EXTENSION OFFICERS CAPACITY BUILT ON E-EXTENSION SERVICE APPLICATION

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has trained 40 agricultural extension workers on the use of the newly introduced e-Extension Services Application, a digital platform designed to strengthen agricultural service delivery and reporting.
The application, developed by the Ministry, is intended to enhance real-time reporting and data management for extension staff working in production, veterinary, and entomology sectors. By leveraging digital technology, the system enables officers to capture and submit field reports instantly while conducting their routine activities.
The e-Extension application is accessible via smartphones and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, allowing extension workers to install it on their individual devices for convenient access and timely reporting. The platform supports documentation of both planned and unplanned activities as outlined in approved work plans. It also allows officers to upload pictorial evidence, ensuring proper, evidence-based reporting and improved accountability.
Speaking during the training, the Commissioner for Extension Services, Mis Jennifer Oyuru at the Ministry emphasized that the digital platform will streamline reporting processes, improve data accuracy, and support informed decision-making at district and national levels.
District Production Officers welcomed the initiative, noting that the system will significantly improve the speed and quality of field reporting, provided there is reliable network connectivity. They encouraged extension workers to fully embrace the system, stressing that the future of agricultural service delivery lies in adopting modern technology. They further highlighted that digital transformation is essential for improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery to farmers.
The training brought together extension workers from Kitgum District, Lamwo District, and Kitgum Municipality, marking a significant step toward modernizing agricultural extension services in the Acholi sub-region. Ends
